You can’t own a business in today’s world without technology. Whether you have a small bakery or a local hardware store, without computers to keep track of inventory and to order new products or supplies, you’d be out of business. Businesses run easier and smoother with technology.

It’s important to decide what technology is essential to your business. Many companies offer cell phones to their employees, especially those in the sales and customer service departments because they understand how important it is for these employees to immediately be reached by customers during working hours. Some companies even provide tablet PCs, such as Apple iPads, so they can demonstrate products via the tablet to potential customers.

One new service that can be vital to businesses is online faxing. This service eliminates the need for fax machines by allowing companies to send and receive faxes via the Internet. Faxes are received as a PDF or JPG file, which saves money because they’re not printed and allows companies to have a digital copy of all faxes received.

Today’s technology also has replaced phones in many ways. Now most communication is done through web cams, email, texting, and instant messages. This is easier than phone calls because it’s easier to respond to a quick question through an IM than it is by calling. Many times employees are too busy to answer a phone, but they’ll respond to a chat message or text.

It’s amazing how technology has changed the way we do business. It’s affected every aspect of our lives.

Kazakhstan is the last Soviet country to seek its independence from the Soviet Union. Unlike most countries that have split from the Soviet Union, Kazakhstan is currently working to maintain a peaceful and civil relationship with Russia, or the former Soviet Union.

Here’s a look at some ways that Kazakhstan and Russia are working together to develop a good foreign relationship.

The Oil Pipeline

The Kazakhstan President and Russian government officials have been working together to develop an oil pipeline into and out of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is a huge developer for oil and the ability to export and import the oil from one place to another would be very beneficial to both countries.

The pipeline agreement also works for importing gas into and out of Kazakhstan. This along with the gas imports/exports can help Kazakhstan economically.

The Russian Space Program

Russia entered into an agreement with Kazakhstan to lease a large portion of land. This land is reserved for the Russian Space Program. It is where the original first space launch occurred and where the famed Russian space station Mir was from.

This leasing of land and agreement to allow the Russian Space Program to call southern Kazakhstan home, helps both countries develop a good international relationship.

International relationships are important especially for smaller countries like Kazakhstan. The ability for Kazakhstan to develop a working relationship with Russia on the oil pipeline and the Russian Space Program, are just some of the examples of how Kazakhstan and Russia have developed a working international relationship.

Putting money into any specific market can be risky. In today’s economy many businesses are holding on to their earnings in small interest accounts in the hopes that rates will rise and more potential earnings can be in the making. The foreign market is pretty much in the same boat.

Market strategies for businesses often include risky stock portfolios within the United States and in the international market. The key is to ensure that you are working with bankers that know what they are doing. While putting money into stocks can be fair, moderate or risky, you want to have someone manage your fund that is reputable and is knowledgeable in their field.

You want to ensure that individuals are savvy with your money, have a reputable client base, and a proven track record. Stocks have always provided investors with a great way to earn more for their money, especially in an economy where the interest rates are lacking. Dividends for stocks appeal to individuals that are seeking higher turnover or want ownership in specific companies.

Be knowledgeable about where your money is going and what your money is doing for you. Ensure that you follow up with your investment manager or broker to ensure that your goals are being met and that they convey information to you. You probably want to hear all of the details of any trades in stocks, whether domestic or internationally based and let your manager know this.

The more knowledgeable you become about what your money is doing, the better able you will be to make decisions independently and work cooperatively with a manager.

Innovations and new technology introduced into the business sector has the incredible capability of building up new industries and making older ones obsolete. The rate at which we saw this happen used to take decades or longer, but since the onset of personal computers and the Internet, these innovations and new technology are influencing business decisions at a much more rapid pace than ever before. In fact it seems we barely get used to our latest devices or programs before they are no longer viable if we want to keep up with the rapid pace of business.

The latest new trend emerging in the last couple of years has been cloud computing. This is an interesting new technology in which the power and service potential of computing is being shifted away from local databases to more powerful systems located online.

Google Apps and Microsoft (MSFT) Tools are being used more and more as collaborative means of increasing efficiency – particularly when there is distance between the collaborators. In fact these new tools are proving to be so powerful, that by utilizing the Internet those working for companies that cross national borders are finding it increasingly more convenient to leverage the strengths of their employees no matter where on the globe they are located.

This cloud computing advantage is going to soon alter the way businesses consider where they build and expand their enterprises. It will be less and less difficult to move businesses out internationally; it may even prove to be the most effective way to increase quality and productivity

When you run a business, you’ll run into accidents from time to time. It’s just a part of being a business owner. But how do you deal with it? Here are some things to help you when you or an employee has an accident.

Let the Lawyers Deal with It

When it comes to accidents, the first thing you’ll want to do is contact a lawyer. Although you may have a lawyer that works for you on corporate contracts, etc., you’ll want Los Angeles personal injury attorneys to help you if there is ever an accident on your premises. They specialize in injuries and will be able to give you the best advice on how to deal with your situation.

Before you meet, try and get as much information about what happened as possible, including personal accounts from those who witnessed what happened, any video surveillance that might have been captured by security cameras, etc. The more information you can give, the more your attorney will be able to help.

Follow Your Lawyer’s Advice

Once you’ve met with your lawyer and discussed what to do next, be sure to follow your lawyer’s advice. This could mean not discussing the case with the injured party, whether that is an employee of yours or a client.

Insurance

If you haven’t yet had an accident at your company, you may want to consider purchasing insurance that will protect you if an injury occurs on your premises. This will prevent you from losing your company if something happens.

Remember, if an accident occurs, take a deep breath and deal with it one step at a time.

Investing in foreign stocks is very similar to investing in domestic stocks, except that you are dealing with stocks traded by other countries. The same risks and benefits apply to foreign stocks investing just like they do to domestic investing, so you need to take the same precautions. Bceam.org can provide the information you need, and you can also use these tips.Don’t put all your eggs in one basket—or in this case, all your stock investments in one company. Spread them out, just like you would if you were building a strictly domestic portfolio.

Do your research.

You want to know about the company’s stability as well as the country’s economy before you make foreign stock investments. Economies in foreign countries can change quickly, just like America’s can and does. You want to be sure, however, the country’s economy (and in some places political climate) is fairly stable before you decide to invest. You can find this information on bceam.org.

Make sure you are in compliance with international trade laws.

There are some countries with which America does not allow trading of goods and services, and the same rule may apply with stock investments. Check on this first (bceam.org can help you find this information) before making a decision. If you are in any doubt at all that a country is considered “safe”, better to pick another one than to take a chance. Follow your foreign investments closely, just as you would your domestic ones. Don’t be too quick to sell or buy unless it’s very evident that quick action would benefit you financially.

Many people who use the Internet to earn an income for themselves have learned how to effectively use affiliate programs. Sometimes though, it can be difficult for the person searching to find top affiliate programs that meet their needs. There are some important aspects of affiliate programs that everyone should know before jumping in to the arena.

First, you should do your research. There are many places that you can search for advice on how to find the best affiliate programs out there. Doing your research will help you know if there are specific companies to stay away from and companies that are a great place for you to start.

There are scams out there, but with a little research you should be able to separate the good affiliate companies from the bad ones. Besides news stories about the ones that are the best for you, there are many online forums where people discuss their experiences with different online affiliate programs.

You should not only decide which affiliate marketing programs are the best, but also which programs best fit your needs. Maybe you only want to promote a certain type of affiliate link. Decide what that type is and who your target audience is before you begin.

Once you have chosen your top affiliate programs, you should make sure that you have the proper website and information that is needed to promote the affiliate links that you acquire. One affiliate link on a well traveled website is worth much more than a hundred affiliate links on websites that nobody ever visits. Knowing how to promote your website is an important part of international affiliate marketing.

Let’s face the facts: when you go to England or Australia, you know that everyone drives on the wrong side of the road. Yes, it’s true, and it’s a pain in the butt. Not to mention everything under the sun has different names — couches, chairs, buildings. They don’t call it a “bathroom” — they call it a “loo”. These differences can be challenging for any visitor, but are all the more important when you are considering expanding your business into that country.

So, naturally, you need to understand your legal rights when expanding your business, that’s right, overseas! Shudder at the thought.

There’s no mystery here: things might be different in other countries, and you have to understand that. Thankfully, you have the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act to keep you from making any obvious mistakes.

Do your research about the country in which you’re expanding: tax laws, customs laws, import restrictions, corporate organizational structure, labor laws, immigration laws, agency laws, and other provisions. They’re all important to know, and you have a right to adjust your corporation to fit that mold. Know that you do have a wealth of resources at your disposal to tailor your business however it needs to be tailored for the sake of the consumer base in the country of your choice, regarding your expansion. The result? You should be just fine.

Because Lord knows — all those different cars, different words, different languages can be such a pain in the neck! The least you can do is follow the business standards to a tee and have your corporation come out on top.

In any relationship, whether it’s business or personal, one way to make it easier is to find some common ground. The trick is to find a topic that is safe enough to discuss without causing an international incident.

This is where the importance of fashion for businessmen comes into play. With the far-reaching impact the Internet has had, it is now possible for anyone in the world who wants to purchase the same articles of clothing that are being worn elsewhere—for example, Coogi shirts.

As technology continues to advance, more and more strides are being made in the area of videoconferencing. Can you imagine sitting down to a videoconference with someone for the first time, and wondering how in the world you’re going to get the conversation started? You don’t want to jump right into foreign investment, import/export, or other weighty matters, but how do you break the ice?

Imagine the person with whom you are videoconferencing asking you about your shirt. When you tell him it’s one of the many Coogi shirts you own, you’ve opened the door to your business meeting right there. It’s only a matter of spending a few more minutes discussing the merits of these shirts before you can naturally segue into the discussion of taxes, stocks, and the other items you need to cover with your international client.

Successful international relationships lead to increased international spending, which benefits all countries involved and ultimately can have a worldwide impact. Wouldn’t you love to be able to say your Coogi shirts started it all?

You hear it all the time in the business world. Many people describe their profession as being either an importer, an exporter, or an importer/exporter. Just what exactly are these people referring to when they say this is his or her profession?

Importing literally means to brings goods and services into the country. An import is a good or service provided to domestic consumers from a foreign producer. Thus the person performing such a task as importing is referred to as an importer. An importer is always based within the country they are importing into. The goods or services brought legitimately into the country are usually for the use in a trade, usually what is imported will be sold.

On the other side of the coin, exporting refers to the shipping of goods and services out of a country. This means that exports refers to goods and services which are made in a home country and are then sent to another country to be sold. The person who performs this task is referred to as an exporter.

Customs plays a large role in the process of international importing and exporting of goods and services. Customs monitor and make sure that the goods both coming into and going out of a country are within the laws of that particular region. Customs tend to not get involved in individual and personal imports and exports, such as transactions over Amazon and e-Bay. Although laws still apply.

Whether an importer, exporter, or importer/exporter, all of these roles play an important part in international trade and are vital in keeping the global economy alive and thriving.

Going global and investing in foreign assets, organizations or even foreign stock exchanges can be an unimaginably complex task. No individual in a stable frame of mind would think of initiating this task without assessing the various risks involved.

However, you cannot afford to focus on just the investment or financial aspects of the transaction. It is important to understand the fundamental difference between investing in a domestic setup and investing in a foreign country.

In a democracy, each and every individual has a voice. The onus is upon the individual to create lobbies and groups to make sure his or her voice is heard properly. A very high tax on businesses in America will automatically lead to complaints from millions of small business entrepreneurs in the country.

The threat of possible reaction is enough to keep government laws under control. On the other hand, you have absolutely no such voice when you are investing in the foreign country. Of course, America does enjoy significant influence all over the world but it certainly cannot dictate matters especially when it is just your foreign investment under consideration.

Does this mean one should completely skip foreign investment? Well, there are numerous ways to ensure that your business savings are invested in foreign assets in a proper manner. It is important to choose the right foreign investment destination. Even then, you must be prepared for certain risks or factors beyond your control throwing your plans out of sync. It is important to have a clear short term and long term goal in mind when you are assessing the risks involved.

Whether you trade CFD, spot Forex, stocks, a commodity, or another instrument, accurate spreads are important for making smart trading decisions and exiting your trades in a profitable position. When choosing a broker, be sure that you’re being presented with live prices that limit large spread fluctuations.

Spreads and Your Bottom Line

Trading can be risky business, but not if you have a well-tested trading strategy and know when to enter and exit the markets. Still, even with these skills and strengths on your side, you need a broker that will cooperate when it comes to presenting you with accurate spreads, whether you trade CFD, stocks or another instrument.

If you trade the foreign exchange market, for example, and trade the Euro against the U.S. dollar, you may be accustomed to paying a pip or two, maybe three in spreads for that currency pair. If your trading account has wildly fluctuating spreads, however, you might find yourself paying many more pips than that during high market price fluctuations, leaving you in a losing position.

Increasing the Chances of a Profit

An unreasonable spread, or trading the markets during volatile economic news releases, can leave you susceptible to a trading loss. When you enter a trade knowing that you have followed your trading system and analyzed your charts, the last thing you want to experience is a trading loss resulting from inaccurate spreads. Increase your chances of trading success by keeping an eye on the spreads you are paying for each trade.

Protect your capital by doing your broker research to get the best and most accurate spreads possible.

A customer satisfaction survey is the survey that takes the feedback of the customers which are further used for improvement of the product or the service the feedback is taken for. Customer feedback surveys can be of many types; they can be oral surveys, written mailer or through e-forms send on their email ids.

The customer satisfaction forms are the need of the day. With the rise in the cut throat competition and business totally based on the service provided it is important to know the voice of the customer. One can get the exact voice of the customer with the help of the feedback forms. With the help of these forms the customers can provide their views about the product and the services provided which can directly be worked upon.

The forms are the devices through which the manufacturers and the service providers can directly know what their customers feel about their products and services. These forms are designed in such a manner that they contain both open ended and close ended questions in such way that without consuming much time the forms take the complete information about the product which the survey is conducted. For the service providers it has always been important to know what is in the mind of their customers as the customers are the people from whom they generate revenue. Thus knowing their views is most important. The customer satisfaction forms provide the insight in the customer’s mind on which the manufacturers can directly work on and thus improve their products overtime so as to be in the customer’s minds as time passes even when new competitors come into the market.

Knowing when to use your head is not to be controlled by emotions. Many times there is a stock that sees a jump due to projected earnings but you might want to steer clear of that stock. If you are not convinced that the stock is going to bring in substantial money, then you shouldn’t buy the stock just based on what others are doing. You need to use your head to control the emotions and you need to trust your gut when it comes to your own feelings about the stock.

You need to avoid buying stock with money you don’t have. Don’t take out a loan for any reason. If you can’t use your own money to buy the stock, you might be better off just waiting. Even the most attractive stock isn’t worth it if you have to risk going broke. If you need further advice on the stock market, you might want to consider going through consulting services. They can provide sound advice based on your own financial situation.

Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed by the art of the stock market. It’s a tough thing to get the hang of. Just be smart and everything will fall into place

WikiLeaks, famous for being a whistle-blowing website for government cables, released new communications between the US Consulate in Toulouse, France, and Washington. These cables – which encompass meetings with executives of Airbus, an EADS company and competitor of the United States’ Boeing – showed that there is constantly bad feelings between the two executives.

There is nothing flattering within the newly released cables, which took place in 2006. Throughout the cables, the Germans seem to find nothing but fault with both the English BAE and their French colleagues. However, the Germans weren’t alone; the French shared the same negative feelings towards their counterparts. These cables reveal that there are “musical chairs in the boardroom,” with the chairmen and investors rotating.

With these feelings now known, it is showing that there might be other companies worth investing in. Boeing, who is their chief competitor, might be more able to gain ground in the aerospace field even with the lay-offs endured by former employees. On top of that, smaller aerospace companies may be on better ground to receive investments to created new technologies or to keep up and become viable competitors.

Despite the Germans and French both stating that people need something better to do than to offer five-year old cables, they aren’t showing much friendliness. Like the English BAE who divested 20% of their holdings in EADS, the German Daimler is looking to do the same thing. With five years having passed, it doesn’t seem that they have created better relations.

Earlier this month, English Secretary Chris Huhne declared that Britain needed to decrease their dependence on it as soon as possible. Many people believe that an oil shock is a possibility and that it will occur.

Though he has been attacked for being alarmist, as these are generally comments politicians are encouraged to keep to themselves, everyone is worried about a lack of oil becoming a real problem as a result of the uprisings in the Middle East. However, no one is certain what would be the most useful of the possible fueling options.

Replacing the fuel seems to be one of the biggest problems. Though discussing changing the public transportation to electricity, hydrogen fuel seems to be dominating the discussion. There are a variety of positives that are being touted about it:

It would be a greener source of energy.

The price would be well below what people are currently paying for gasoline.

In the UK, it could replace current pumps in as little as three years.

But the biggest problem is that it is still dangerous; it cannot be handled in open air. The previous attempts all required special pressurization in tanks and extreme cooling mechanisms.

Happily, an Oxford-backed company may be worth looking into. They are called Cella Energy, and they created minor and inexpensive modifications for current vehicles and an “artifical gasoline.” These modifications would store hydrogen in micro-beads so that their fuel would be just as easy as the current fuel.

The Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire) has been riddled with government and economic problems. In November 2010, there were elections between the incumbent Laurent Gbagbo and opponent Alassane Ouattara. Unfortunately, Gbagbo has been refusing to step down and hand his power off to the declared winner. Since December, 365 people have died in violent clashes between the two men.

In February, the Ivory Coast endured a ban placed on the exportation of cocoa, using it as a harmful weapon in a presidential power struggle. Businesses who relied on these exports suffered, as Ouattara imposed an embargo so that he was better able to financially strangle his opponent and force Gbagbo to leave office. As a result, the price of cocoa temporarily increased on the market. Some companies refused to follow the embargo, and they suffered threats by Ouattara’s forces for having done so.

This month, however, President Gbagbo nationalized the two main cash crops of the Ivory Coast: cocoa and coffee. The government announced that the purchase of the two crops will be done by the state for the entire territory. The only people who are allowed to export are those who receive an exporter license or are mandated by the government, and they will receive their cocoa and coffee from the state as well.

In February, the futures for cocoa seemed to be good to watch. With a simultaneous embargo and nationalization of the two crops, it might be worthwhile to observe despite the country’s current and violent governmental issues.

Customer satisfaction surveys are polls used in a variety of ways to reveal the strengths, or flaws, of a product or business. The survey questions should focus on the customer’s happiness with the product and its arrival. If the company says it will be there in seven days and it takes 14, that’s an instant complaint from a client. By gaining feedback, you can learn what you need to do to keep your customers.

Getting feedback can be easy when you use one of the following survey methods:

Phone surveys: Some customers order items over the phone while others may call a business about a technical question. The best method would be to ask customers questions part way through the process. Inquire whether the client would be willing to take a survey at the end of the call to rate the service. Phone surveys such as this would focus more on improving the speed of the order process and the interaction between client and employer.

Postal mail surveys: Using the mail is an old-school tactic, but it is effective, nonetheless. Business owners who ship products can make survey cards with a series of questions and slip them into packages before shipping them. If you want customers to send these back, consider using stamped postcards for the response.

Internet surveys: More and more people are ordering products online, especially now that PayPal provides a service that protects the buyer’s credit card information. Getting the email address of the client is important and is a great way to grow a business and strengthen customer loyalty. By having that information, you can send an online customer satisfaction survey.

No matter how the surveys are received, always send a thank you response to clients so they know their advice was noted and appreciated. All feedback, both good and bad, can be used to help a business grow.

Indian stocks have been so deep in the red for the majority of this year. However, even with the increase in oil prices, they have risen approximately 3% this month.

As we look at their current economic make-up, they are being hit with increasing oil prices, inflation in the double-digits, and a central bank that could be considered hawkish. These are all incredible factors that will make inside and outside investors quite leery of throwing any money towards these markets.

But there is a light somewhere: The Mumbai market actually fell 15% during the first two months this year. What this means is that the valuations in India may fall to reasonable levels, further allowing more people to invest in stocks and businesses on the Indian market.

That does not mean that the market will please everyone, though. Some people are right to be scared with the three aforementioned problems; it would be wise to remain cautious, especially when there is the possibility that the prices may either rise again or stay neutral.

The concern stays mostly with the price of oil. If the price of oil falls, the Indian market may become extremely viable; people will want to research the most beneficial aspects and probably take those risks. However, if the oil price stays as it is or increases, there is a chance that the Indian market might suffer more problems. Analysts cite that it occurred in the past during the 1990 Iraq war, so it could happen this time, too.

Recently, in the EU, there have been talks on new package of economic policies that are designed to make “strong decisions” to avoid further debt in the region. Though some politicians involved say that they have reached an agreement, others have provided information through Twitter saying that the only agreements have been in principles rather than all of the elements within the Pact.

Understandably, the markets most want to see implications of progress as part of the new European Stability Mechanism. With all of the previous bail-outs – the first to receive help being Greece and the most recent being the Republic of Ireland – a concern is to increase the lending capacity of the European Financial Stability Facility.

Those who have received the aid say they did all the possibly could to make their market viable, but there was a lack of a strong European decision to complete their attempts. Also, they are looking to make their repayment terms much easier for them. In Ireland, the new Prime Minister came to the government with a strong cry from the Irish people for better terms in the deal.

Along with seeking new terms for borrowing countries, many countries have provided ideas of creating a common corporate tax. Germany and France both believe that the differences between the tax rates in the EU are responsible for creating the debt crisis.

Other terms include setting debt at 60% GDP, indexing the retirement age to the life expectancy, and lower labor taxes.

College is filled with networking fairs, events where employers meet for a minute or two with many prospective students and select the best one for their needs. Some worry that by attaining their degree online they’ll miss out on this seemingly vital college experience. The fact is there are many ways to network in the social media age, all of which revolve around being near an online computer. There aren’t too many ways to be near an online computer more often than by attaining your degree on one!

By being in contact with your professor in an online format via studying for a degree at a program such as provided by elearners.com, you’ll be well positioned to engage in more than the typical amount of social connection. Professors know people in the industry far and wide, and with the six degrees of separation model, being ‘friends’ with them in the social media realm instantly puts you into a broad networking mix. It’s easy to learn to apply social media to advance what you’ve got happening as you gain knowledge by studying in an online format every day.

Just as face to face networking is now less important than ever before compared to the new ways of meeting people, earning an online degree is less costly than traditional college too. While it’s never been cheap to further one’s education it’s now more convenient and affordable than ever. You’ll still need to manage your budget during your years of study, but the flexibility built into online college means you’ll be able to keep working as you learn which can facilitate keeping your budget on track.

Recently, there has been quite a bit of information coming out of people who use the Internet to do business in China. Though not illegal, it is difficult for them to actually use basic email services and VoIP. What makes matters worse is that so many people believe that because “the rest of the world” is so immersed in their abilities to use these services that they have to exist in China completely. It’s not because they don’t exist, it’s because the connections are so unreliable that the calls will cut out or the services will fail.

Understandably, people who actually do business here find it to be frustrating. The ability to use services like Skype has enabled people in places like Los Angeles to do business with people who are across the globe. For those who are in China and rely on such services, they need to have extensive management of back-ups, fall-back options, redundant channels, and the expectations of global colleagues and clients.

Often, there are headlines asking about China’s place in global economics. They tout it as being one of the future dominating countries for industries like telecommunications, asking about its position in the world. However, as more people use the Internet for their companies’ services, it really begs the question about whether or not they will become an international center for value-added services. If they cannot currently handle non-standard communication, then the rest of the world will wait to see if they resolve the issue.

The US economy has been well-known throughout the world for being a consumer nation, importing a great deal of items from all over the globe. Part of the State of the Union address from President Obama mentioned that the United States needs to focus on exporting, but the worries come from the partisan politics that will take place while trying to create policies to expedite this process.

One of the best aspects if importing and exporting is having the opportunity to choose. Consumers are better able to choose everything from their cars to their clothing. Some countries never have to question whether they need to export their goods. Another result is that everyone should be able to receive higher quality and comparatively lower prices; this forces local companies to compete with those farther away.

However, the US has not really had this complete import-export setup; they have traditionally had imbalanced policies for exporting and importing. For companies within the borders, it has been more difficult for them to gain global recognition. There are a few instances where they were able to make it overseas, such as Ford and Apple. These companies have had to compete with foreign markets due to relaxed import and restrictive export policies.

Today, there may be a greater ability for the United States to become an exporting company. With the value of the dollar decreasing, they are better able to export items at a cheaper price compared to import costs of a similar amount from China.

Sadly, Japan was recently hit with an earthquake that had a revised magnitude of 9.0. Following the monster quake, a tsunami hit them heavily. Everyone is looking at them with multiple attitudes, including wondering how the world’s third-largest economy might react to the event.

Nikkei, which is the Japanese market, closed shortly after the earthquake hit, which did not allow for the full impact to factor in. Despite that, the stock futures fell approximately 5%. Seeing this, traders are worried about whether it will slow and how negatively certain stocks will be viewed.

Monitoring the market trends, speculators believe that there will be many of the factories that were in the affected areas may suffer sell-offs. They hope that it will be short-lived, especially after viewing the trend of stability in Australian and New Zealand markets after the floods and earthquake experienced in the region.

Foreign investors in Nikkei may want to continue watching the decisions made by the Bank of Japan before the consider investing more or decide to sell off their market shares. Without knowing the full extent of the damage, it is impossible for them to know precisely what will occur. However, the smartest thing to do is to continue accumulating news and information in regards to the state of Japan’s well-being.

The primary concerns in regards to cost are the costs of rebuilding and what kind of impact will be experienced in the public finances of Japan. Reconstruction expenses are more like to affect the government debt.

It is a commonly held belief that having diversity in your portfolio can help you immensely. One way to do this is to invest abroad. Though there is the possibility of risk, there are always worthwhile investments that can be found. It takes more work to find opportunities in foreign companies.

Stocks in the United States and foreign markets are not always synced. Just because one may be up, the other can be down. They do not always have an effect on each other, which allows for your portfolio to remain more balanced. However, the one aspect to watch for is whether or not the company relies heavily on imports and exports. If they rely too heavily on them, you might want to observe the country they are most connected with or avoid investing in that specific company. Regardless, over the long term, investments in both the United States and foreign markets are generally independent.

For Americans who are uncertain about investing in foreign markets, try an ADR. An ADR is an American depository receipt. They are listed on the NYSE and Nasdaq, are tradable, and are settled and handled as if they were normal companies in the country. These companies use accounting conventions of the United States and SEC rules when they provide financial reports. You can find this option in foreign companies like GlaxoSmithKline, Sony, and Nokia.

If these two options aren’t appealing, there are always multinationals or local markets that trade foreign stocks, which may provide security.

The world can certainly seem small today. The Internet allows people from all over the globe to share information and interact with each other. Phones can connect people from thousands of miles away. Accordingly, more and more business is being conducted from different parts of the earth. If you want your business to go big, odds are you will need to be prepared to work with people from outside your home country.

It is important to show respect to those of other nationalities, especially when conducting business with them. Be aware of customs and business patterns. Little things can go a long way, like having business cards in both your language and theirs, or stating your information in the format they are familiar with. Business cards give a legitimate and professional face to those you will interact with; that you are a person of industry who they can trust and rely on. This can show that you are serious about doing business—since you’re willing to accommodate them, you will obviously take good care of your customers. Another good point to remember when working internationally is that your counterparts are living in different time zones. Being careless and calling them at 2:00p.m.your time might wake them up at 11:00p.m. their time, and all you’ll manage to do is irritate an ally and show that you are inconsiderate.

Doing business with companies or individuals abroad can be incredibly rewarding both professionally and in a personal sense. It’s important to always maintain a friendly, respectful and professional approach. This will ensure that you and your work will be respected and admired, and your business will prosper and flourish as you gain a good reputation. Even something that seems like a small matter—like being well versed in international business etiquette—can go a long way and take you to new achievements in the business world.

The creation of concepts seems to halt especially during a bust economy. There are several reasons for this, but in fact, stopping innovation is actually hurting many companies who depend on the spending of others. Quite frequently, the companies in the United States who purchase parts from overseas companies may cause international issues. During booming times, they are more likely to invest in research and development (also known as R&D). Research and development provides them with new products and functional solutions to old problems. When the economy slows, the money given to the R&D departments is decreased or often halted.

Often, consumers don’t look at how spending changes in one country affect another. If people stop spending money on goods or services, that industry has decreased funding to put towards other projects. They may put a new project on hold, which could hurt the company who is buying their parts. The R&D division is overlooked as being costly, with the company changing their currently existing products only slightly.

The best example of this is the auto industry. Though arguable, American car manufacturers spend more money during a good economy toward the R&D in order to create better safety features, updated technology, or entirely new cars. However, a good percentage of parts used in American cars are purchased in and imported from overseas in countries such as Korea and Japan. When people stop spending money on the American cars, they are unable to spend more money on purchasing the parts from businesses in other countries; most of the parts are manufactured outside of the US, so those places lose the funding that the car manufacturers provide.
